At Timeless at Tiffany’s Medspa we use the 1st FDA cleared microneedling device on the market, the SkinPen® Precision. SkinPen® microneedling is a medical grade motorized instrument that utilizes tiny needles to deliver controlled micro-injuries safely and precisely to the skin, prompting new collagen and elastin production to effectively remodel skin tissue. Because so many environmental factors break down collagen, and our skin naturally produces less collagen as we age, increased collagen production is needed to make skin look younger and healthier. This minimally invasive procedure is clinically proven to treat and improve conditions such as acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, skin laxity, uneven texture, stretch marks, and pigmentation. This is a safe and effective treatment for any skin type and can be performed on all parts of the body.
How does microneedling work?
Microneedling works by creating microchannels to stimulate your body’s natural wound healing process to rejuvenate the skin from the inside out by encouraging collagen synthesis. The nearly invisible micro-injuries create a targeted inflammatory reaction forcing collagen producing cells called fibroblasts to travel to the site of the injury and lay down a new collagen matrix while still leaving the overall structure of the skin intact. This new collagen results in improved skin tone, texture, and tightness.
Microneedling results can also be enhanced by applying other agents during your procedure: hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, stem cell growth serums or even Botox. These custom blends are applied with microneedling to address your specific concerns. The tiny channels in the skin allows products to penetrate deeper into the dermis for increased correction. A blend of these special ingredients can do a great deal for your skin: vitamin C can brighten it, hyaluronic acid can hydrate and plump, and is rich in regenerative growth factors that boost collagen production and promote faster healing.
What is the downtime after microneedling?
This in-office treatment also has little to no downtime involved considering the stunning results. The procedure may cause temporary redness, dryness and swelling. Most of these side-effects clear up within 24-48 hours. Your experienced provider will go over all aftercare instructions to achieve the best results and allow for proper healing. An SPF 30 + should be applied daily and reapplied as needed. We recommend a physical, chemical free sunscreen like ones we have in our office to minimize irritation to the skin post procedure.
Does microneedling hurt?
Your provider will apply a local anesthetic to numb the area before treatment to keep you comfortable during your procedure. Many patients even dose off during their microneedling appointment.
Who is a candidate for microneedling?
Most anyone can have the procedure performed as long as they do not have any active infections, lesions, any known wound healing problems, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are experiencing infection, inflammation, or a cystic breakout you should wait until your skin is healed before receiving microneedling.
How many microneedling treatments are needed?
This varies on your individual goals, skin concerns you wish to address, and the current condition of your skin. SkinPen® microneedling can be adjusted to different depths to address individual skin concerns safely and more effectively. A combination or a series of procedures may be used to deliver the desired results over the course of several visits.
